Kristiyan Topchkov, MScPsych, possesses diverse international experience in education and clinical practice.
He began his career in psychotherapy by working with severely ill patients at a psychiatric hospital in London, England (2009), before continuing his practice in Belgrade and Toronto. He started his training in Transactional Analysis in Serbia and later had the honor of furthering his education through one-on-one supervised training with the renowned Dr. M. Novellino in Rome.
The psychoanalytic approach practiced by Novellino helped him gain a deeper understanding of unconscious processes, particularly in therapy phases focused on script-based aspects of personality. This newly acquired perspective led to the publication of his work on narcissistic personality disorder in the Transactional Analysis textbook Seminari Berniani. In the meantime, he passed the exams to become a Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA) in Rome and earned a master’s degree in psychotherapy from Middlesex University, London. Additionally, he completed introductory courses in psychoanalysis and W. Bion’s theory, organized by the Institute of Psychoanalysis in London.
Later, life took him to Toronto, where he opened his private practice while spending the next three years undergoing personal analysis and supervision, known as Die Lehranalyse. His continuous experience with training analysts representing contemporary psychoanalytic thought was crucial in shaping the entirety of his personal and professional development.
In his psychotherapeutic work, he is dedicated to achieving long-term personality changes in his patients.
